Got the base cabinets in and new range hood with exhaust stack and wall cabinet. We laid the old counter top on the new cabinet base so we'd have a sink and dishwasher for the time being.

rebuilt the control panel, replaced the range hood and mounted a stainless steel sheet behind the stove for ease of cleaning, plus it's blast-proof!

the stain we used was a little darker than the cabinets, but it was the closest we could find. With a coat of gloss, it came out pretty well.

Mitchell and I used oak plywood around 1X4 framing, then finished it with scribe molding on the corners and crown molding on top. Not an easy thing for rookies like us!
